RESHARPENING SERVICE

  • WHEN AN ELECTROPLATED DIAMOND OR CBN TOOL STOPS CUTTING, IT CAN BE STRIPPED AND REPLATED!

  • THE WORN OUT ABRASIVE IS REMOVED BY A SELECTIVE STRIPPING PROCESS WHICH DOES NOT ALTER OR AFFECT THE STEEL SUBSTRATE.

  • THEN A NEW LAYER OF SHARP GRIT IS ELECTROPLATED ONTO THIS “CLEAN” BLANK TO CREATE A “BRAND NEW” TOOL. THEORETICALLY, THERE IS NO LIMIT TO THE NUMBER OF TIMES THE SAME BLANK CAN BE REPLATED.

  • THIS REPLATING PROCESS IS MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE THAN BUYING A NEW WHEEL; ESPECIALLY WHEN APPLIED TO COMPLEX SHAPED AND EXPENSIVE BLANK WHEEL PROFILES. MOREOVER, DELIVERY TIMES FOR “STRIP AND REPLATE” ARE MUCH QUICKER THAN FOR NEW WHEELS.

This process is much more cost effective than manufacturing new tools. This makes it particularly appealing when using complex form wheels and tools, however many other tool designs and shapes can be easily stripped & re-plated to reduce new tooling costs, such as mandrels, cut-off wheels and end mills, among others.


Often with a wheel that comes in to be stripped and re-plated, we find damage to the outside diameter or cutting/grinding edge. Accent abrasives can re-machine this damage quickly and accurately. An additional charge for this service is generally added for all but the simplest re-machines.
